HUD - NEIGHBORHOOD NETWORKING FOR SENIORS IN MEMPHIS TENNESSEE
PROJECT TIME-LINE
Janurary 1997:
Assuming Plan Approval by Jan. 1, 1996, and local foundation funding
by Janurary 1997, Plough Towers and St. Peter Manor will contract for their
renovation of designated space for the CLC at each location. See specific
details in "Budget Considerations" below. To be completed by
Feb. 15, 1997.
An On-line Service Coordinator (OLSC) will be hired. This person will
be shared between Plough Towers and St. Peter Manor. One half day at each
location. Hired by the end of Janurary.
Any cooperative agreements between Plough Towers, St. Peter Manor and
outside providers (contract and voluntary) will be completed by the end
of Janurary 1997.
Computers and network materials will be ordered
Feb. 1997:
Computers and network utilities will be installed.
Computer configuration and network connectivity will be tested.
Training of senior instructional volunteers will start.
Software utilities will be tested.
Mar. 1997:
An open house at both Plough Towers and St. Peter Manor, including
the residents and community partners, will be held by Mar. 5, 1997
A community-wide open house will be held by Mar. 20, 1997
First computer classes will start by Mar 25, 1997
Apr. 1997:
Regularly scheduled computer tutoring will begin by Apr. 15, 1997
July 1997:
The OLSC will explore the possibility of seniors working via the network
if so desired
Aug. 1997:
The OLSC, MECCA representation, and administrative members of the Plough
Towers and St. Peter Manor will begin soliciting continuation of support
of partnership resources. A new partnership drive will also be organized
and executed starting the end of August.
Sept. 1997:
Seniors will begin working with k-12 students in conjunction with Neighborhood
Networking programs at HUD assisted multi-family locations (Robinhood and
Walnut Park).
Nov. 1997:
Continuation of funding agreements will be in place. Program and
classroom planning to begin Jan. 1998 will be started.
