Responsibilities and Goals
Responsibilities: Specific areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to, policies and recommendations related to the following:
- Honor Code
- Curricular and instructional goals
- Proposal, review, and approval of new programs and elimination of existing programs
- Development of interdisciplinary programs
- Standards for admission, retention, graduation, and grading
- Teaching awards
Goals for 2006-07:
- Review the process of course and faculty teaching evaluations, and if necessary recommend changes that will provide more uniform and effective evaluation processes
- Make recommendations on how the evaluation process can be made more useful
- Determine campus-wide if new technologies have led to an increase in cheating
- Review, develop, and coordinate distance education policy and procedures (in consultation and coordination with the IT committee)
- Promote and coordinate the development and evaluation of intercollegiate courses and of other interdisciplinary education
- Evaluate and promote faculty responsibility for, and participation in, both course curriculum development and alterations in established course curricula
