Responsibilities and Goals
Responsibilities: Specific areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to, policies and recommendations related to the following:
- Enhancement of the research environment
- Policies on research grants and funding
- Policies on copyrights and patents
- Policies on human and animal research
- Policies on scientific misconduct and fraud
- Development of interdisciplinary research
- Removal of impediments to research
Goals for 2006-07:
- Expand and streamline the process for implementing clinical trials
- Facilitate the timely signing of material transfer agreements
- Return a portion of the F&A to the investigator
- Develop a policy for replacing equipment
- Evaluate bridge funding on the UTHSC campus
- Work with the Comparative Medicine Department to find ways to decrease animal care costs
- Examine the role and needs of postdoctoral fellows on campus
- Evaluate issues associated with the transition from paper to electronic submissions to NIH
- Implement a faculty database at UTHSC to enhance collaborative efforts
- Evaluate plans for the new Faculty Savings Program
- Examine the new proposal to assign research space
